 Currency Tunisian dinar

The Tunisian dinar (TND) is the official currency of Tunisia, introduced into circulation in 1960, replacing the previous currency, the Tunisian franc. One dinar is subdivided into 1000 millimes. The currency symbol is "د.ت" (Arabic letters for DT), and the ISO 4217 code is TND. Banknotes are available in denominations of 5, 10, 20, and 50 dinars, while coins come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 millimes, and ½, 1, 2, and 5 dinars. The design of the banknotes and coins reflects themes related to the history, culture, and architecture of Tunisia. The banknotes feature portraits of notable figures from Tunisian history, such as Hannibal and Ibn Khaldun, as well as various architectural landmarks, including the ruins of Carthage and the Great Mosque of Kairouan. The Central Bank of Tunisia (Banque Centrale de Tunisie) is responsible for issuing and controlling the circulation of the currency.
